The year 1988-1994
It is a period of high growth in the Thai economy. Consequently, attracting foreign investors to invest in retail businesses in Thailand such as Makro in 1989, convenience stores like FamilyMart in 1987, 7-Eleven stores in 1989 at Patpong road and AM-PM stores in 1990, HyperMart Big C stores in 1993, Future Park Bang Khae in 1993, Future Park Rangsit and Seacon Square in 1994, and The group is a business partner to save costs, such as Central Group and Robinson, etc.

The year 1997, during the economic crisis.
This is when entrepreneurs face debt problems and a lack of liquidity. As a result, the foreign capital land holding law was amended. by allowing foreigners to save more than 50% of the shares. As a result, foreign capital to buy/hold significant stakes in many retail businesses has been changed to foreign ownership, significantly discount stores such as Tesco Lotus (which Holds 98% British shares, Big C Supercenter (63% French shareholders) and Makro (90% Dutch citizens) after the economy recovers. The year 2012 to present E-Commerce Disruption.
The companies began to compete with e-commerce giants Lazada in 2012 and Shopee in late 2015. Thus, in less than a decade, Retail can reach consumers successfully. And they are causing many related businesses to grow continuously, such as E-Logistics, E-Wallet, and Fulfillment businesses that package products in packaging. And at present, in 2021, the e-commerce business has started to expand the business into money lending. This can be seen from the PayLater function.
